Central UB ladies host meeting
By Debbie Rolen
The Central United Baptist Church Ladies Auxiliary opened their regular meeting on July 8 at the CCC Building at the church with Janet Doss, president, welcoming everyone and reading from Psalms 9:1-2. The ladies then enjoyed fellowship and a singing of their theme song “Love Lifted Me”.
Prayer requests were taken and Linda Williamson led the prayer.
Tammy Blankenship gave the devotion on “Abigail” from I Samuel 25: 2-42. Abigail was a generous, quick witted, wise and one of the Bible’s great peacemakers. Her sorrow was to have been mismatched in marriage to her first husband and her joy was that God used her to save lives, eventually making her the wife of David. Christians should make a commitment to pray for our husbands daily and ask God to bless him in every facet of his life.
Following devotion, everyone sang “Amazing Grace.”
Doss read the previous minutes and Sue Farmer gave the treasury report.
Wilma Adams celebrated a birthday and anniversary in the month of July.
Paul Evans presented the Auxiliary a gift for $1,000 from an anonymous donor to start the kitchen remodeling.
Discussion was held on the success of the Mother’s Day Dinner at Special Occasions in May and to have tickets for 2014 dinner hopefully at $16.95 each. Each circle could have a fundraiser. Linda Williamson made the motion, seconded by Myrtle David. All agreed.
The Kitchen Committee meeting for July 11 at the Christian Center was discussed. Members are
Dorothy Counts, Lana Collins, Jo Ann White, Lois Farmer, Linda Williamson, Lana Brammer,
