CHAPMANVILLE — An early Christmas came for two deserving individuals who received a free automobile during the Christmas in July celebration hosted by the five dealerships making up the Thornhill Auto Group.
During the month of July, Thornhill Auto Group accepted letters at all locations from individuals nominating themselves, or someone they knew, for a chance at winning a car.
“We had over a thousand letters in just a few weeks,” Sydney Thornhill Brown said. “We gave them all to a committee of local residents to choose the top 20 ranking them.”
The 20 nominees gathered at Thornhill Ford Lincoln on Corridor-G in Chapmanville Tuesday, July 30, to find out which two would drive away with the giveaway cars. Winners selected were Clay Norris of Charleston and Kathy Martin of Henlawson.
Norris was nominated by fellow worker Renee Daily and now owns a Mitsubishi Lancer. Martin was nominated by her pastor, Ron Chambers of New Covenant Fellowship Church, and now owns a Chevrolet Cavalier.
“It’s wonderful to be able to give back to the community like this,” Wally Thornhill said. “This is something we would like to do every year.”
