On Saturday, Appalachian Regional Healthcare hosted the first annual Color Me Crazy Run/Walk/Crawl in the Perry County Park. The event brought in more than 130 participants.
The 5K (3.1 mile) course meandered through the park, around the Perry County Board building twice, and finished at the Senior Citizens Center. Along the course participants were covered with florescent colored paints (corn starch based).
A portion of the proceeds from the race will go to the expansion of the ARH emergency facilities, while the rest will go to the Rotary Club which will use the funds to buy books for children.
Brandon Gayheart was the first to finish with a time of 17:56, followed by Michael Montgomery with a time of 19:21 (3rd place was Dylan Burton with a time of 22:04). First place in the women’s division went to Sonya Asher with a time of 25:05, followed by Jamie Montgomery in 26:33 (Asher was fifth overall and Montgomery was 7th).
