There are no high school soccer games slated for this week, and none of the area teams are scheduled to play a scrimmage before the season starts. Most of the teams are scheduled to start next week, with Buckhorn being the lone exception.
The Buckhorn Wildcats are not scheduled to start their 2013 season until Aug. 31, when they will travel to Perry Central. The Wildcats do not have a girls’ team, so they field a co-ed squad each year.
The Hazard Bulldogs will open the 2013 season on the road at Prestonsburg on the 20th, and will also play their first home game next week as they host the Jackson City Tigers on the 22nd.
The Lady Bulldogs will play three games next week, all on the road. Hazard will first travel to Prestonsburg on the 20th, Whitley County on the 22nd, and conclude the week at Sheldon Clark on the 24th.
Perry Central will also wait until next week to start their season. The boys’ and girls’ teams will team up for double-headers each night.
The Commodores will host Shelby Valley on the 19th and Letcher Central on the 20th. They will then travel to Estill County on the 24th.
