On Friday, the Hazard Bulldogs’ football team hosted the Whitley County Colonels in their first preseason scrimmage. Although the coaching staff could probably find room for improvement, the Bulldogs played well against the Colonels.
The two teams started with mock kicking drills. Both teams lined up in their formations and practiced a punt, extra point, and field goal.
The second phase allowed each team to execute 10 plays, scoring as many times as they could (the Bulldogs held the Colonels scoreless, while Hazard scored twice). They then brought out the chains and went to real-game situations.
At the end of the night, Hazard had represented themselves well, putting the ball in the end zone several more times than Whitley County. The Bulldog defense stymied the Colonels all night, while the offense scored on nearly every possession.
Hazard will play one more preseason scrimmage. The Bulldogs will host the Belfry Pirates next Friday night.
