PRESTONSBURG — Community members gathered Tuesday in Prestonsburg for Communities Against Drug Addictions regularly month meeting.

Tim Robinson was this month’s guest speaker. Robinson, president of Addiction Recovery Centers of America, told those in attendance of trends in the current state of the war on drugs, and his organizations plans to help in the battle against addiction.

Robinson said that his company wasn’t looking to try to compete with other established agencies, but was hoping to provide more opportunities for counseling to those struggling with addictions.

“Finally give people a place to turn. Give them a bed and get them help,” said Robinson. “We’re up to the challenge, and this (drug addiction) isn’t going to lick the people of the mountains.”

Robinson said his company is planning to open counseling centers in Prestonsburg at the Archer Clinic, as well as Inez and Hazard among others.

The next regularly scheduled meeting of Communities Against Drug Addiction will be held Tuesday, Sept. 17, at noon.
