CHAPMANVILLE — The Chapmanville Regional High School baseball team is probably glad they moved up the Van game to Saturday.

That’s because the Tigers had their way with the Class A Bulldogs as Chapmanville routed Van 14-1 at Ted Ellis Field to improve to 3-0 on the season.

The game had originally been scheduled to be played on Monday but was moved up two days because of the expected rain and snow which was in the forecast.

Trey Dalton and Chase Roberts combined to toss a five-inning no-hitter for Chapmanville. Dalton, a left-hander, pitched the first three innings and allowed one earned run and no hits. He walked four and struck out six. Roberts then fired the last two innings of hitless ball and fanned three with one walk.

Brock Dalton, Brent Clay and Austin Ellis each had a pair of hits for Chapmanville. Dalton was 2-for-3 with one RBI. Clay, the Chapmanville DH, was 2-for-2 with a double. Ellis, the Tiger third baseman, was 2-for-2 with two runs knocked in.

Catcher Scottie Thompson was 1-for-1 with a double and two RBI. Tyler Neil was 1-for-1 with one run batted in.

Austin Watts and Jacob Dingess each had a hit and an RBI for Chapmanville. William Copley added a hit for CRHS.

Dingess had two stolen bases for the Tigers. Nick Brumfield, Dalton and Copley had one each.

Zach Adkins had one RBI.

Van (0-2) committed six errors in the loss. The Tigers only had one error.

Chapmanville is scheduled to return to the diamond with a Tuesday home Cardinal Conference doubleheader against Tolsia. Game time is set for 5 p.m. at Ted Ellis Field, weather permitting.

The Tigers then go to Poca on Thursday at 7 p.m. for a league game, before heading to Ripley on Saturday, where the Tigers are set to play the host Vikings at noon and Class AA Ravenswood at 2:30 p.m.

CRHS then plays at Cardinal Conference team Herbert Hoover on April 1 and hosts Class A county rival Man on April 3.

Scott 4, Logan 0

For the second straight game the Logan High School softball team was shut out as the Lady Cats lost 4-0 at Scott on Saturday.

Logan (2-2) had been blanked 6-0 by Shady Spring last Friday night at home.

Jennifer Miller pitched the shutout for Scott as she scattered nine hits.

Chasity Ball’s RBI single keyed a three-run third inning for the host Lady Hawks (3-1). She was 2-for-3 at the plate.

Aarron Ward was 2-for-4 for Logan, while Hannah Kolovich was 2-for-3 with a double.

Taylor Napier had a double. Summer Collins, Shelby Hale, Antonia Hill and Hanna Sedlock all singled.

The Lady Cats were scheduled to host 3A Lincoln County on Monday night, weather permitting. Logan is set to play at county rival Chapmanville on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m., also weather permitting. On Thursday, Logan hosts South Charleston at 5:30 p.m. before going to Winfield on Friday at 5:30 p.m. LHS then hosts James Monroe on April 4 in a home twinbill beginning at 1 p.m.
